Butter Cookies

 Butter Cookies or Benne biscuits.

Butter cookies are melt in mouth biscuits though they are prepared using ghee it starts to melt in mouth because of that its well known as Butter cookies.


Previously we used to buy them in bakery but now you can prepare them at home and it is 100% healthy. Very recently I have baked some these ghee cookies and let us see how to do it in an easy way.

You can also bake them without oven, using pressure cooker or a good bowl.

First add some salt and heat. Then place a plate on it and then on the plate you keep arranged butter cookeies which are  supposed to bake. Close the lid without gasket and bake them for 10 to 12 minutes. Yummy cookies will be ready.

Now let us see the ingredients and the way I have baked.

Ingredients Needed :

Maida / All purpose flout : 2 Cups.

Ghee : 1 Cup

Sugar : 1 Cup.

Cardamom : 2 to 3 

Baking powder : 1 Tsp

Salt : A pinch

Milk : boiled and cooled 1 tsp.

Oven to Bake cookies.

Method :

Melt ghee and keep it ready.


Dry grind sugar and cardamom pods  keep it aside.




Sieve Maida, salt and baking powder .


Take a big bowl and add sieved maida.

Add powdered sugar.

Mix it well.

Add melted ghee slowly and mix it.

Add a tsp of milk and prepare dough.



Take a small portion and give a shape of ball.

Slightly press it.

Arramge in a tray and slightly press with fork edge to give a design.

Arrang all the cookies.


 Heat the oven for 10 minutes.

Keep the cookies arranged tray in the oven and bake for 12 minutes on 180 degree C.


Beautiful cookies are done. Leave the tray on the top of oven for2 to 3 minutes.


Now separate them and let it cool.


You can store them in airtight box or Glass Jar.


Note

Do not add more milk. It turns soft and loose.

Adding butter instead of ghee is optional. Melt the butter and then use it. 

Time : Baking : 12 Minutes.

Preparation time : 10 to 15 minutes.

No . of cookies : 20 to 25..
