Chutney Sandwich Bread Pakoda

Ready to serve Bread Pakodas.
Bread Pakoda is a fried item and it goes well with cup of Hot coffee or Tea or as evening Snack. All you need is fresh chutney ( Any chutney), Bread. This Chutney Sandwich goes well with  Hot cup of Tea or Coffee. It is very good for evening snack also. We can have them any time of the day if you love fried item. I had some chutney which is prepared in the morning for dosa. And there was a loaf of bread which was there which was bought previous day. I think most of us long for some fried item in the chill winter cold days. So thought of preparing Chutney Sandwich Bread Pakoda.
I am sure you all love this Chutney Sandwich Bread Pakoda and surely try and enjoy.

Things Needed :

Chutney : 1 Small cup
Bread : 10 Pieces
Oil : 1 Cup
Besan flour (Channa powder ) : 1 Cup
Rice flour : 1 Table spoon
Red chilly powder : 1 Tea spoon
Jeera (cumin seeds) : 1/2 Tea spoon
Salt : as required
Water : as required

Method : 

1. Take a big bowl and put Besan (Gram Flour ), red chilly powder, rice flour, jeera and salt.
2. Mix it nicely and add water and prepare the dough. Let it be like dosa dough consistency.
3. Keep a bread slice and apply chutney on one side of the bread. Repeat the same with other bread slices.
4. Now keep two slices together (put the chutney applied sides together) . Just press it tightly and cut them according to your wish.
5. Cut them in to four pieces. Arrange them in a plate.
6. Now keep a pan and put oil. Heat oil and fry bread chutney sandwich on medium flame. Fry on both sides.
7. Remove from the pan and serve with Tomato ketchup and a hot cup of coffee.

 8. Repeat the same with remaining Bread and prepare Sandwich Pakodas.

Note : 

Do not add lot of water. It may take more oil. No need to add cooking soda . Eating Hot Bread  Chutney Sandwich Pakoda  is more tasty. Adding more spice is also optional. Adding garam masala or chat masala powder to the dough is also optional. You can also use less amount of bread according to your requirement. You can cut the edges of bread (Crispy part) before applying the chutney. ( I did not do). You cab also add crushed garlic to besan dough while preparing the dough. ( optional). I have not added.
Time : 15 minutes.
Serves : 4 to 5
Chutney preparation : Grind a cup of fresh coconut, green chilly,marble size tamarind and a handful coriander leaves,  1 Table spoon of Roasted chenna ( hurikadale or pottu kadale or putani in Kannada language)  and salt.. Remove from the mixi jar and add mustered ingh and curry leaves seasoning.
Time : 5 minutes 
Serve : 3 to 4.

Pigeon Pea ragda Aloo Patties

Pigeon Pea or Togari Kalu will be available plenty during the winter. People make use of this pea and prepare varieties of dishes. Pigeon Pea is called Togari Kalu in Kannada.Pigeon Pea Ragda Aloo Patties. Ragda means mixed curry  and paties are prepared using potato and spices.



Pigeon peas have many good qualities like, it provides excellent source of fiber, protein and sodium. They are low in fat content and its ideal food for heart healthy diets.
Here is a recipe of Ragada Patties prepared using Pigeon Peas or Togari Kalu as we kannadigas say. Ragada means Sambar or gravy and patties which are prepared using Potatoes, or Green Bananas or even Sweet Potatoes too. This dish can be eaten for break-fast or as evening snack.
I am sure since its yemmy every one and all age group will love to eat this Ragda Patties.
One more dish is Usli using the same peas and prepared this dish and it has less oil and can be eaten at any time of the day. You can even use your creativity and prepare chat..with this Peas.

1.Ragda Patties.

For the Curry : 
Things Needed:
Pigeon Peas : 2 Cups
Onions : 3
Tomatoes : 2 to 3
Garam Masala : 1 Tea spoon
Jeera : 1/2 Tea spoon
Coriander seeds: 1 Tea spoon
Green Chilly : 1
Coriander leaves : 1 bundle
Ginger : an inch
Turmeric powder : a pinch
Salt : to taste
Lemon : 1/2 Rind
Oil :  1 Table spoons

For the Patties:
Potatoes : 4 to 5
Bread slices : 6 to 8
Curry leaves : 3  to 4 Table spoon
Salt : to taste
Jeera (Cumin Seeds) : 1 Tea spoon
Red chilly : 1 Tea spoon
Oil : 1/2 Cup

Method : to Prepare Curry 

1. Wash and cook Pigeon Peas in a pressure cooker with required water and leave it for cooling.
2. Wash tomatoes, coriander leaves green chilly and cut into small pieces.
3. Remove the outer skin of onions (2 onions ), wash and cut into small pieces.
4. Now Grind tomatoes, garam masala, coriander leaves, coriander seeds, jeera, ginger, green chilly  and  2 table spoons of cooked peas into paste and remove from the jar and keep it aside.
5. Keep a pan on the fire. Heat the pan and put 1 table spoon of oil.
6. Add jeera and fry for 10 seconds. Add cut onion pieces and fry till they are brown.
7. Add ground mixture and mix it well. Add salt, turmeric and grated ginger to the mixture.
8. Add cooked peas and stir well. Let the curry boil nicely. Add water if required.
9. Stir inbetween and boil for 3 to 4 minutes.
10. Now shift the curry to the serving bowl.


2. Aloo Patties : 



1. Wash and boil potatoes in a pressure cooker for 6 to 8 minutes and remove the outer skin of the potatoes when it is cooled.
2. Wash and cut coriander leaves.
3. Now take a big bowl. Put potatoes, coriander leaves and the bread slices, salt, jeera and red chilly powder.
4. Smash the potatoes nicely and mix all the ingredients nicely. Knead it well and divide the smashed mixture in to small portions.

5. Keep a pan on the fire. Put oil .
6. Take a small portion of the mixture and give a shape according to your wish and shallow fry or just cook with little oil on both sides.  (At time 4 to 6 patties can be cooked).

7. Repeat the same procedure and prepare the patties from the remaining dough.
Now Put a big spoon of Peas curry in a deep plate. Keep 2 to 3 Aloo Patties and put some cut onions on the top and serve.

Note : See that the curry is piping hot. You can add or lesson the spices (chilly) according to your taste. See that the curry is little liquidy. (not watery). You can also use more onions if you wish. You can also mix onions along with boiled potatoes.  It taste differ. Must use little oil on both sides while cooking. Using more oil is optional. Here I have used less oil. You can also put grated carrots along with cut onions on the top of the patties while serving.

Aloo - Tomato Pav Bhaji.

Aloo Tomato Pav Bhaji is easy and quick to prepare and its yemmy too . Can eat for break fast , evening snack or  for dinner too.
Things required .
Pav  : 2 packs.
Butter : 4 to 5 Table spoons.
 For Bhaji
Tomatoes : 4 to 5 .
Potatoes : 5 to 6 ( Medium sized ).
Green chillies : 2 to 3
Ginger : 1/2 Table spoon.
Coriander Leaves : 2 Table spoon.
Pav - Bhaji Masala:  1 Tea spoon.
Red Chilly Powder : 1/2 Tea spoon.
Jeera : ( Cumin Seeds ) : 1/2 Tea spoon.
Salt : as required.
Oil: 1 Table spoon.
Onions : 2 ( small ) .
Method :
Wash and boil Potatoes until they are soft.( Can pressure cook also and its easy ). Keep it aside.    Remove the skin and smash potatoes when they are cool. Wash tomatoes and cut them in to small pieces, grate ginger, cut green chillies and coriander leaves. Cut onions and keep it aside.
Now keep a pan on the fire. Add oil and heat. Add jeera, grated ginger and  cut green chillies and then fry them for 10 seconds. Add cut tomatoes and fry them till they turn soft. Add  Pav bhaji masala . Mix well and  add smashed potatoes and mix nicely. Add salt and coriander leaves to it. Add 1/2 cup of water and cook on low fire. for 4 to 5 minutes.  Now replace the Bhaji to a serving bowl and add a spoon of butter on the top. ( Tea spoon of butter will do).
Now keep a pan on the fire again. Cut Pav in between and make two pieces and apply butter and roast them on hot tava. Roast both sides of  Pav. ( apply little butter on the other side of the pav when you turn to cook on the other side).  Serve  Hot roasted Pav with Bhaji and . Keep little cut onions by the side of the bhaji.
Note :  Roast both sides of the pav to get good taste. Can serve the half  lemon  while serving . Can add carrots and capsicum if you wish. Cook them till soft and mix while adding potatoes to the bhaji.

Bombay Bread Toast

Bombay Bread Toast is a snack and You can have them any time of the day. It goes well with cup of coffee/tea/juice. When you are hungry and you crave to have some think yummy, spicy and not that oily, this Bombay Bread Toast really serve the purpose.


I have used normal bread, besan/channa flour/kadale hittu, spices like green chilly, garam masala and vegetables like onions, tomato and carrots.
As I said it is an easy, yummy snack and goes well with chutney/ketchup.
Let us see the recipe Now :

Things Needed;

Bread Slices : 4 to 6
Besan Or Channa daal powder : 1/2 cup
Onion : 1
Green Chilly : 2 to 3
Carrots : 1 ( 1 cup of carrot gratings).
Tomatoes : 1 (Big size)
Coriander leaves : 5 to 6 Sticks.
Salt : to taste.
Garam Masala : A pinch
Jeera pr cumin seeds : 1/2 tea spoon.
Oil or Ghee : 2 to 3 table spoon
Water : Required quantity
Cooking Oil/butter/Ghee : 2 to 3 Tablespoons


 Method :

1. Remove the outer layer of onions and cut into small pieces.
2. Wash and remove the outer layer of carrot and grate it.

3. Wash and cut tomato into small and keep it aside.
4. Wash and cut green chilly, coriander leaves into think pieces.

5. Now take a bowl and put channa flour besan/Kadale hittu and salt in it.
6. Add cut onions , green chillies and coriander leaves, tomatoes and grated carrots.
7. Add required water and prepare bajji dough. (Let it be little thicker than bajji dough)
8. Slice the bread in triangular shape. (No need to cut out the edges).

9. Keep a pan on the fire and heat. Place a bread slice and spread bajji dough on the top.

10. Add little oil around and cover the lid. Cook on 30 seconds).

11. Turn the other side slowly and cook for a minute. (Bajji dough gets cooked). Add a teaspoon of oil around the bread.
12. Cook nicely till the bajji dough turns golden brown.
13. Remove from the pan and serve with chutney/Ketch up and a cup of coffee/tea.

14. Repeat the same with remaining bread and the dough.n the low flame . Use 1 tea spoon of oil for each bread. Serve with ketchup or any kind of chutney.

Note : 

Cut onions in to small pieces . So that it cooks faster. Use of butter/ghee instead of oil is optional. Adding chilly powder/any other spice is optional.
Serves : 2 to 3

Easy Pav Bhaji

Pav is bread and bhaji is curry Pav Bhaji is well known as street food (fast food) is loved by all.
Lets see how to make quick and easy bhaji  and have quicker Pavi Bhaji which can be enjoyed with minimum time.

All you need to buns(Pav) and some vegetables to cook. Here I have used carrots, potatoes and tomatoes. Some Pav bhaji masala to add to the baaji.

Ingredients for Baaji

Carrot : 2 to 3
Peas (I have used frozen ) : 1 Bowl.
Potatoes : 2 ( Medium sized)
Tomato: 2
Onion : 1 (Big)
Salt to taste
Ginger : Small piece
Coriander leaves : 4 to 5 sticks
Pav baaji Masaala powder : 1/2 Teaspoon
Garam Masala : 1/2 Teaspoon
Jeera powder : 1 Teapoon
Butter : 2 to 3 Table spoon
Oil : 1 Table spoon
Pav (Bread) : Required

Method : Masala (Bhaji)

1. Wash carrots, potatoes, ginger, remove the outer layer and grate it . Keep it aside.
2. Cut coriander leaves, tomatoes and onions into small.

3. Keep a pan on the fire and heat. Add 1 Tablespoon of oil and put 1/2 teaspoon of jeera.
4. Add tomatoes, grated ginger and fry nicely. Add carrots, peas and potatoes and fry till they turn soft.
5. Add salt, little turmeric powder, garam masala powder, pav bhaji masala powder and fry nicely.
6. Let it cook nicely till every thing mixes well. Add butter to it and shift the bhaji to a serving dish.


7. Add little coriander leaves to it. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the bhaji. Mix it nicely.


8. Cut buns in the middle. Keep a tava (dosa pan) on the fire.
9. Heat and Keep cut buns and let it roast. Apply little ghee on both side and roast it.


10. Keep the roasted buns, a spoonful of bhaji and little onion on it and serve.

11. You can also serve cucumber raitha (pachadi) or a cup of curd along with Pav Bhaji.

12. You can toast bread and serve with Pav bhaji instead of buns.

Note: 

You can cook all the vegetables instead of grating them. Adding Spice according to your taste is optional. Adding butter is also optional. I have used MTR brand powders. You can use any brand of spice of your choice. You can use butter to roast buns instead of ghee. Bhaji can be used as curry for chapati, roti, poori and dosas.
Total Time : 30 minutes
Serves : 2 to 3
