Dry Fruits and Nuts Laddu/Laadu/Unde

 It is always to have some dry fruits and nuts to boost our energy and keep us healthy. I have prepared varieties of laddu / laadu using some of this ingredients. Here is one more Dry fruit and nuts laddu. This Laddu is prepared with out using fire.

Dry fruits and nuts are loaded with healthy medicinal values, vitamins and minerals. They are rich source of iron, calcium and other minerals. 

These Dry fruits and nuts Laddu is healthy and anyone can have it at any time of the day. 

It is good for kids snack box, travel, feast and festivals.

Please do remember to use soft dates.

Let us see the recipe now :

Things needed :

Dates : 500 Gr.

Rock Candy / Kallu Sakkare / Crystal Sugar : 50 Gr.

Almonds : 200 Gr. 

Raisins : 1 Handful

Apricot and Figs : 5 to 6 (Each).


Method :

1. Remove seeds from dates and put it in a bowl.

2. Add 1 handful of raisins.


3. Add crystal sugar/ candy sugar/ Kallu sakkare. Mash it nicely. 





4. Dry grind almonds into powder. (Some into big pieces).



5. Add it to dates bowl. 


6. Cut Apricot and fig into small pieces and add it with dates.

7. Now mix all the nuts and fruits nicely and prepare laddu.


8. Take a handful of the nuts and dry fruits mixture and make roundels.


9. Dry Fruits and nuts Laddu is ready to serve. 


10 Munch at any time of the day.

 OR 

Pack it for friends.


NOTE :

I have used soft lion dates. You should use soft dates to get good laddu.

No need of using any ghee or oil.

You can dry grind crystal sugar/ Kallu sakkare, figs and apricots. (Optional). I have not done it.

Time : 30 Minutes

Serves : 20 Laddu. (According to size).

Shelf life : At least 2 Weeks.

Rava - Oats Idli

Today's  Food is breakfast food. It is Rava - Oats Idli.
This idly is healthy and yummy, easy to prepare and good breakfast and keeps us energetic for the whole day.


I have used medium rava/semolina, a cup of curd and a small cup of Oats.
The idli turns very soft and spongy and yum to have it.
Let us see the recipe Now :
Rava/Semolina : 3 Cups
Oats : 1 Small Cup
Curd : 1 Cup ( Better to Use savoury curd)
Salt : As required
Water : As required
Eno Salt : 1 Teaspoon
For Seasoning : 1 Tsp Oil
Mustard seeds : 1 Teaspoon
Curry Leaves : 8 to 10

Add caption

Method :

1. Take a big bowl. Add Rava, curd, salt and mix it well.


2. Add oats and required water and mix the batter nicely to Idli batter consistency.
3. Add seasoning done with mustard seeds, curry leaves and cashews. (optional).


4. Let the batter settle for 5 minutes.
5. Wash idli plates and apply ghee for each plate.


6. Add 1 teaspoon of Eno salt and mix the batter nicely.


7. Put the batter to idli plate and steam for 10 minutes. ( Pressure cooker or idli steamer).


8. Remove the done idlis and sprinkle some water on idli and take it out to a bowl.


9. Serve hot idli with ghee, sambar and coconut chutney.

Note :

Use of savoury curd results good idlis. Use of cooking soda instead of Eno is optional.
Roasting Rava in seasoning is optional. Use of medium size rava is best.
Time : 20 Minutes.
Serves : 3 to 4 .

Rose Petals Laddu.

Preparing Laadu in a healthy way is always my pleasure. I do use lots of dry fruits, jaggery, and other ingredients. It not only provides energy, it also fills the stomach and good for all age group.
Healthy laddu provide energy, vitamins and minerals to our body.


Rose petals are used here to add natural flavour of rose. The roses are from our pot plants. The roses are slightly pink and good for health.
This time I have used Oats, lion dates, wheat flour and some dry fruits like raisins, cashews.  Use little jaggery to add little more sweet. Rose petals adds to the natural flavour of Roses.
Let us see the recipe now :

Things Needed :

Oats : 250 Grams
Wheat flour : 2 Cup
Jaggery : 1/2 Cup (Powdered).
Poppy seeds : 2 to 3 Tablespoons
Lion Dates : 500 Grams
Raisins : 1 Cup
Cashews : 10 to 12 (Cut into small pieces.
Rose Petals : 4 to 5 Rose flowers.



Method :

1. Wash and dry rose petals.

2. Dry roast oats and dry grind it. Remove the seeds from dates and smash dates and make it soft.


3. Dry roast wheat flour till the raw smell goes off.
4. Add poppy seeds to dry roasted wheat flour and put of the fire. Put dry roasted ingredients, soft dates to a  a big bowl. Mix it well.


5. Keep a pan on the fire and put jaggery and 1/4 cup or little less water. Let the jaggery melt.
6. Keep stirring till it turn one string consistency.


7. Add rose petals and stir for 5 to 6 minutes.


8. Pour this jaggery on the top of dry ground oats and wheat flour.


9. Keep a small pan on the fire and and put 2 to 3 tbs of ghee. Add raisins and let it bubble up.
Add cashews and fry.  Pour this cashew - raisins to powdered ingredients.


10. Now mix all the ingredients nicely and make laadu/Unde.

11. Have a Oats - wheat - Dates laadu as evening snack. It is one of the best snack for kids. So while preparing snack box add this unde.


12. Serve or eat whenever you like it.


Note :

If you find the ingredients are dry and if you are not able to prepare laddu, use 1/4 glass of hot milk or 2 to 3 tbs of melted ghee. So that you can nicely prepare laddu. Remember, milk added laddu get might get spoiled, so it is better to keep them in the fridge.
Time : 40 Minutes.
50 Small Laadu can be prepared. (According to  size).

Spring Onion Mixed Flour Chapati

Spring Onion Mixed flour Chapati has turned so well and the taste was good. So give a try and enjoy some yum spring onion chapatis.


I have used wheat flour, ragi /finger millet flour, little garam masala powder, chilly powder and jeera powder.
These Spring Onions are grown in our pot nicely and I am happy for getting home grown spring onions.\

Spring Onions are good source of Vitamin C and Calcium. They ar rich in dietary fiber and Vitamins A and B6, iron and minerals like copper, phosphorous, potassium and manganese. They are rich in antioxidant and anti fungal properties. They help in balancing cholesterol level in our body.

Ingredients :

Wheat flour : 2 Cups
Ragi/Finger Milellet flour : 2 Cups
Spring Onions : 1 Bowl (1 small bundle).
Jeera Powder /cumin seeds powder : 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala Powder : 1/2 tsp
Salt : As required
Ghee : 2 Tsps
Oil : 3 to 4 Tablespoons

Method :

1. Wash and cut spring onion leaves and the bulbbs into small.



2. Take a big bowl and add wheat flour, Ragi flour, salt, garam masala powder, jeera powder and  ghee.
3. Add cut spring onion and mix it nicely. Add required water and prepare dough.


4. Kneed the dough well and divide into small portions.


5. Take a small portion of the dough and roll into chapati.


6. Keep a pan on the fire and heat. Put rolled chapati on hot tava and cook.
7. Sprinkle some oil on the top. Turn the other side and cook for a minute.


8. Now Spring onion Chapatis are ready to serve.


9. Repeat the same with remaining chapatis.


10. Serve Mixed flour Chapatis with the side dish of your choice.

Note :

Cut spring onions into small pieces. Adding more ragi flour is optional. 2 cups Rag flour and 1 cup wheat flour.
Adding more ghee is optional. No need to fry the leaves. It adds to the taste and good for health too.
Adding more spice is optional.
Use of ghee while cooking chapatis is optional.
Time : 30 Minutes
Serves : 3 to 4 .
